About This Immersion

This Nimble Arts developed workshop is open to anyone who is interested in learning to teach the basic elements of trapeze and aerial fabric to children and adults at summer camps, schools, gymnastics programs, or circus schools following the Nimble Arts philosophy and methodology. Materials that will be covered include safety & spotting techniques; teaching methods; rigging & equipment maintenance; preventing chronic injuries; and skill progressions for beginning tricks.

Prerequisites:
All students are expected to prepare by successfully completing the elements in the required Nimble Arts™ DVD: Aerial Fabric: Beginning Level 1 prior to the start of the workshop. Trapeze experience is not necessary but it will make your journey easier.

About The Instructors

Elsie Smith and Serenity Smith Forchion are circus performers and educators specializing in aerial skills. They have choreographed for circus, dance & theater and offer workshops and residencies to circus schools, dance companies and performers.  They began teaching aerial teachers over 30 years ago.  Together the twin sisters have received a Special Award at the China Wuqiau Internat’l Circus Festival in 2007 and the Bronze Medal at the 1st Internat’l Festival de Circo en Albacete, Spain in 2008. They are also co-founders of the New England Center for Circus Arts, and Nimble Arts. In 2016 they won the American Circus Educator’s Award for Excellence in Education and the Walter Cerf Medal for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts from the Vermont Arts Council.  They specialize in coaching aerials and act creation, have a special fondness for circus educators, and love mentoring new performers and teachers.
