Push yourself physically while diving deep into the world of the circus arts in this five-week immersive training program. This is a great option for folks who want to reach further into their circus dreams, or for those wanting to get back into the swing of things after time away. NECCA’s professional coaches will help you push harder, explore deeper, and fly higher—all to help you see where your circus journey can take you.
Our custom-built facility includes an in-ground foam pit, trampoline, 40′ and 24′ rigging points, and air conditioning. Make circus the focus you want it to be while enjoying the fun and beautiful Vermont summer—with swimming, hiking, biking, and water sports.
When?
Summer Intensive A runs June 10 – July 15 and Summer Intensive B runs July 16 – August 20.
Who is it for?
This program is for students ages 18 and up with a current circus arts practice who are looking to intensify and broaden their circus training, and also for those with fitness and sport backgrounds who are interested in exploring the world of circus arts. This can be your summer getaway or the start of your professional circus training journey. (Age 16 and 17 – please inquire about participation in this adult-focused workshop.)
What is Included?
- 21+ hours per week of training
- Group classes three days a week (appx 12 hours/week) will focus on tumbling, partner acrobatics, hand balancing, and flexibility.
- Each student will also pick two session classes (3 hrs/week Monday-Friday 6 – 9 pm) in any area they’re interested in and at whatever skill level they are training at.
- Each student will also have two private lessons per week (1 1/2 hrs/week, generally late weekday afternoons) to further develop their skills in the focus area of their choice.
- Summer Intensive-specific open practice will be available (5 1/2 hrs/week, Thursday/Friday late afternoon)
- Additional open practice training time is also available (weekdays late afternoon/evening)

- Trapeze (single point, double point, duo, swinging)

NOTE: additional session classes can be added at the regular session class rate.
What is the cost?
$3,100 – Deposit of $1600 due 2 weeks after acceptance, balance due June 1st (A) or July 1 (B).
*There is a 10% discount for participants who are joining the Performance Boot Camp or who participate in Summer Intensive A and Summer Intensive B.

The program is directed by Elsie Smith with Head Coach Alyk Fuller, and includes a variety of other coaches including Zeb Galipeau, Megan Mallouk (B), Cody Hayman and Violet Defiant.
How do I apply?
Fill out our application here. There is no due date for the application, it’s rolling acceptance. But spots for specific apparatus do fill up.
Application videos should include your current skills. Please include any fitness, sport or circus activities you are currently doing, and demonstrate as many of these core skills:
1. Forward roll & dive roll
2. Cartwheel (both sides)
3. Handstand: against a wall or free-standing
4. Back bridge—push up from laying on ground
5. Splits—left, to straddle (center), to right
6. Pull ups—please show that your feet are not on the ground at the start/end of the skill

NECCA reserves the right to change protocols if necessary.
We encourage a culture of care for the health of others.
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, we ask that you please stay home so as to not spread germs. Symptoms must be gone for at least 24 hours before returning to NECCA.
- Fever
- Severe sore throat
- Fatigue (a lingering tiredness that is constant and limiting)
- Stomach-related symptoms.
Please wear a mask if…
- Someone you live with is experiencing the symptoms above.
- You are experiencing mild symptoms such as sneezing, stuffy or runny nose, etc.
- A coach asks for masks to be worn in class.
- The country you reside in is recommending masks be worn due to case numbers. Check your county using this website.
