Summer Intensive

Push yourself physically while diving deep into the world of the circus arts in this 6 week immersive training program. NECCA's professional coaches will help you push harder, explore deeper, and fly higher to help you see where your circus journey can take you. Our custom-built facility includes air-conditioning, an in-ground foam pit and trampoline, as well as 40' & 24' rigging points. You can enjoy the fun and beauty that is the summer in Vermont with swimming, hiking, biking and water sports just steps away from NECCA's front door.

When?
Closed for enrollment for 2019.
Check back in Spring, 2020 for summer 2020 enrollment.
Mon June 10, 2019 - Sun July 21, 2019 (6 weeks)
Round One applications due by April 15, 2019.

Session classes & Open Training: Monday - Thursday 6 - 9 pm
Group classes: Saturdays & Sundays 9 am - 3 pm
Private lessons: TBD
Additional Open Training: Varies. Monday - Friday between 9 am - 6 pm

Who?
This program is for students ages 18 & up with a current circus arts practice looking to intensify and broaden their circus training, and also for those with fitness and sport backgrounds who are interested in exploring the world of circus arts. This can be your summer getaway or the start of your professional circus training journey.

What?
Group classes will focus on tumbling, partner acrobatics, hand balancing, and flexibility. Each student will also pick three session classes in any area they are interested in and at whatever skill level they are training at. Each student will also have one private lesson per week to further develop their skills in the focus area of their choice.

$3000 (payment plans available)

Who are my coaches?
The program is directed by Elsie Smith with head coach Marlon Archer, plus a variety of other coaches including Zeb Galipeau, Molly Graves, and Serenity Smith.

Get the best out of your circus training while enjoying the fun and beauty that a summer in Vermont can offer. Enjoy swimming, hiking, biking and kayaking practically from NECCA's front door. The West River is steps away and includes a miles long river front trail, water access for boats and swimmers, and a waterfront restaurant to end your day with good food and company. Just one mile away is the vibrant downtown with cafes, restaurants, galleries, movie theaters and performance venues for music and entertainment.

There are many summer sublets and homestay options in Brattleboro. Check HERE for general information and more details will be available before the program begins.

How do I apply?
Round One applications are due by April 15. Any remaining spots will be filled by rolling applications until June 7. Fill out the application form and include a video of your current skills. Please include any fitness, sport or circus activities you are currently doing, and demonstrate as many of these core skills:

1. Forward roll & dive roll
2. Cartwheel: (both sides)
3. Handstand: against a wall or free-standing
4. Back bridge: push up from laying on ground
5. Splits: left, to straddle (center), to right
6. Pull ups: please show that your feet are not on the ground at the start/end of the skill
