Weekend Immersion: Circus for Dancers & Actors

Schedule: Sat & Sun 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Have you noticed that circus is everywhere? It has become a part of so many theatrical or stage events, and having basic circus skills can make you a more valuable members of a theater or dance company or production. Join us to learn the basics that will let you show your circus skills on stage with the confidence to shine at auditions and secure the performing roles you want. We'll cover basic aerials, juggling, floor acrobatics, and partnering skills. You'll leave with a short sequence in each of these areas that you can present at auditions, show in your demo reel and highlight in your next performance.

Pre-requisites: No circus experience is necessary but a background in gymnastics, dance, or martial arts is required. We'll work to the level of each participant!

About the Instructors: Elsie Smith is the founder of the New England Center for Circus Arts. She has been teaching circus skills to the young and not so young, beginners to professional level for over 30 years. Naomi Ullian has a background in movement arts and has been training and performing circus with a focus on acrobatic partnering and aerial arts.
