Weekend Immersion: German Wheel

When: Sat March 17 & Sun March 18, 2018
Schedule: 9 am - 12 pm, 1 - 330 pm
Age 16 & up
Instructor: Chris Delgado

Step right up! An awesome 2 day wheel adventure with international wheel coach Chris Delgado awaits! In this workshop, we are going to do it all: Straightline, Spiral and Vault. Don't know what that means? Don't worry, you're gonna love it. Do know what that means? Great! I promise I got some awesome new stuff to teach you, with a special emphasis on how you can continue to train these tricks after I'm gone. Each day starts in belts as you learn to move the wheel in a clean, efficient manner, working up to the infamous free hand elements. Once you're warm, we will dive into more dynamic wheeling such as Free Seat Forwards, with a Seat Drop/High Roll if you're feeling fancy. Eventually working our way up to the more technically challenging Spiral and Vault, where you'll learn how to jump over, when to jump off, and how to hold on to this crazy wheel. All experience levels welcome. We have wheels for students 5'0" to 6'0" tall, or feel free to bring your own wheel. Please wear lace up shoes with flexible soles: running shoes will work, but wrestling or martial arts shoes similar to Feiyue Martial Arts Shoes are ideal. www.themartialartsstore.com

Chris Delgado graduated from Case Western Reserve University, studied at Dell Arte International School of Physical Theatre, went to work for CircEsteem, a nonprofit youth circus in Chicago, and that’s were he met the German wheel. He was immediately drawn to her curves and the swing in her step; he just could not resist! He trained in Chicago with Wolfgang Bientzle (8 time world champion) for 4 years, and never looked back. Inside a German wheel, he has taught and performed across the US and internationally, everywhere from Kent, Ohio to Abu Dhabi.
