Immersion: Hand Balancing & Contortion
June 24-25, 2017
Instructor: Melissa Knowles
Age 16+ or by permission of instructor

NECCA's Immersion workshops are focused, multi-day sessions that include apparatus specific warm ups, conditioning sessions and lots of time working on your favorite apparatus/skill area!

Explore the nuances of hand balancing from entrances, exits, balancing, conditioning, shaping and creative choreography on the floor and on canes.

We will intersperse handstand drills and positions with stretches specifically for handbalancing such as shoulder, pike, straddle, and upper back mobility. Additional focus will be on learning to access your active mobility through positions of balance, and of course core engagement!

Saturday, June 24: 10:00am-4:30pm
Sunday, June 25: 10:00am-4:30pm
*Location: Our new building at 10 Town Crier Drive, Brattleboro VT*

This workshop is suitable to a wide range of skill levels, but you must have current & regular handbalancing practice and be able to do 30 second free standing handstand (no support), a 1 min handstand against the wall and hold a bridge with straight arms for 30 seconds.

Melissa K. Knowles has toured nationally and internationally, having performed with C!RCA, Nimble Arts, and others. Melissa’s teaching specializes in hand balancing and active flexibility/mobility and is certified in Functional Range Conditioning.
