About the Performers:
Duo Angola Murdoch & Holly Treddenick
Angola Murdoch - Founder and Artistic Director of Lookup Theatre, she has been performing circus for fifteen years. In 2008 her solo show was named "most heartfelt dance show in Canada" from the Globe and Mail. Some highlights of her career include: Cirque Pacifica (Maui), Waiting for Calder (Art Gallery of Ontario), Planet Power (HarbourKids), Maravilla (Second City, Toronto), Granmercy Theatre (NYC), Command Performance (Europe), and Zip Zap Circus (South Africa). Angola graduated from the National Circus School in Montreal where she obtained the highest level of coaching certification for circus arts.
Holly Treddenick - Based in Toronto, Ontario, Holly moved to Toronto to study at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, where she graduated from the professional training program in 1998. Holly began to move into the circus world in 2001 through clowning, training with Sue Morrison, and that same year beginning to incorporate fire into her dance work. In 2005 Holly began her aerial training, first with Sabrina Pringle. She has since trained with many private coaches (including Angola Murdoch) and at festivals across Canada and the US. Most recently Holly was at Moment at Aloft in Chicago teaching and training. In 2003 Holly co-founded Femmes du Feu. FdF focuses on contemporary circus creation and community engagement, producing Aer Time (2010) and Circus Sessions (2015). Holly is also an osteopath (DOMP), and a mother of two beautiful girls.
Duo Christie Cahill & Amy Schulster
Christie Cahill has a Bachelor's Degree in Dance from Dean College and is a certified Pilates instructor. She has performed in theme parks and internationally toured for years with Celebrity Cruise Lines. Christie broadened her circus horizons here at NECCA, graduating from the Protrack Program in 2015. She is continually creating new waves of art with dance and circus fusion.
A native New Yorker, Amy Schulster is a Professional Aerialist, Dancer, and Corrective Exercise Specialist. She graduated with honors from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Dance and Urban Design. After many years of performing in New York City, she moved to Brattleboro to take a place here at NECCA in the Pro Track 2014/2015. Most recently, she's returned to NYC after a year of performing and teaching with Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance in Boulder, Colorado.
Together, Christie and Amy are a force to be reckoned with. They've gained strength, insight, and happiness being immersed in the circus community. Their versatile dance and choreographic backgrounds have created “custom-made” artists who not only adapt to many different styles, but also produce their own.
An Oakland based aerial performer and instructor, Xochitl is a graduate of NECCA's Pro-Track Program, with a concentration in dance and duo trapeze. She has also trained in Montreal with renowned coaches from Cirque du Soleil and the National Circus School. She performs her unique style of dance trapeze around the US and Mexico in festivals, cabarets, and most recently on a national tour with contemporary circus company, Acrobatic Conundrum. Xochitl has contributed to the evolution of American circus by helping to establish Sky Candy, an aerial school in Austin, Texas. She is an enthusiastic teacher; selected teaching experiences include: Kinetic Arts (Oakland, CA); San Francisco Circus Center (San Francisco, CA); the North American Circus Educators Conference; and Camp Winnarainbow, where she first fell in love with circus.
